The dungeon was in the downtown area, but not the nicest part of town. It had once been a warehouse, converted to offices. The kink community, financed substantially by a few wealthier members, had bought the building and redesigned it. It was considered the premiere dungeon in the region and kinksters came from all over for the events and play parties offered there.

The coffee shop faced the street and anyone could stop in for coffee during the day, Monday through Friday. At night and on weekends, it was open only to members of the BDSM community. If you wanted to attend an event, you registered for it and were required to provide your legal ID ahead of time for a background check. You also showed your ID at the door. 

Behind the coffee shop part of the building, there was a large, open room, like you would expect in a warehouse. This was the main dungeon area. There was all kind of equipment in the room and a wide variety of play areas – some with raised platforms, like you might use for wax play or fire play, a couple of St. Andrews crosses, some gymnastic looking bars that were for rope suspension. Several areas with chairs were arranged in different parts of the room, and there was even a small stage with room for an audience in front of it.

Amelia, still sipping her coffee in the coffee shop, had no idea all of that was nearby. She also didn’t know about the smaller rooms off the main area where they held classes and workshops, or about the private rooms in the mezzanine above the dungeon, like a loft, it ran along the back wall. On the floor above that were several apartments, but Amelia had no reason to think about them at all.

Amelia was down to a few sips of coffee left and was wondering what to do next, when Josh said, “Are you ready for the first part of the tour?”

Amelia took a quick breath, feeling her heart beat speed up, and “Yes, I think I am,” she said, but just as they were standing up, another man approached and slapped Josh on the back. ”Josh!” he cried. ”I didn’t know you were coming tonight!”

Josh turned to him, “Lucas! Good to see you again. Yeah, when we were catching up over lunch, I didn’t know I was coming tonight. I take it Sofia’s here too?”

“Yep, of course, she’ll be along in a minute. And who is…” Lucas turned his gaze on Amelia.

Josh grinned, “This is Amelia, first time here tonight. She’s brave enough to take me up on my offer to show her around.”

Lucas smiled at Amelia, “Trouble,” he said, elbowing Josh. ”This one is nothing but trouble.” Perhaps he noticed the twinge of anxiety that showed on Amelia’s face, because he quickly added, “But I’m sure he’ll be on his best behavior tonight. Right, Josh?”

Just as he said that, a petite woman joined the group. ”Sir Joshua!” she exclaimed, and they hugged. ”So good to see you, I know Lucas got to catch up with you already, but we should all have dinner soon. 

Then she turned to Lucas, “Who’s going to be on their best behavior? This one?” nodding her head at Josh. She smiled at Amelia, “Hello, I’m Sofia, I don’t think I’ve met you before.”

“No,” Amelia said shyly, “I haven’t been here before.”

“Well, I hope they’re not scaring you,” Sofia faked a stern look at Josh and Lucas. ”They are – well, I can’t say harmless exactly, but they’re – hmmmm – they’re really quite sweet.”

Both men laughed and scoffed at that, but Amelia was warmed by her words. In an undertone, Sofia added, “Really, Sir Joshua is quite safe. Unless you don’t want him to be, of course. Then it’s a different story.”

Amelia felt that funny tug in her stomach again. Ok. This was going to be interesting.
