This post is a potpourri of vanilla and kink, Christmas and Solstice, and includes music, planning, and some quick fantasy. If you’re just here for the kink, you may want to pass.
Every Christmas, I share my favorite non-traditional Christmas music. I already shared The Christians and The Pagans, which is probably number 1 on my “hits” list. I have two for today, tied for second place. The first is Merry Christmas from the Family, by Robert Earl Keene. I LOVE this song – and the video is really necessary.
This family Christmas is not what I experienced growing up – we’re Italian. We have a whole different thing going on. BUT my first husband and MP both have families that – you know, there Xmas wasn’t exactly like the video, but there’s enough similarity to make it relatable!
Anyhow. Tied for second place is Frosty the Snowman, but not just any Frosty. This one is from the album This Warm December, by Zee Avi. Enjoy… and stay tuned for more musical treats.
Next on my agenda for today is Solstice, which is this Thursday!! So I need to plan my celebration/ritual quickly. It is still pretty vague in my mind, although I found this description of Solstice helpful:
For Pagans, this is a time of new beginnings, rebirth, transformation, getting rid of unwanted habits, and creativity. The symbols of Yule are evergreens, the Yule Log, a Yule tree, mistletoe, holly, wreaths, and bells.
Those themes are so present in my life right now. And here’s the thing – this rebirth, the transformation for me in reconnecting with my submission, practicing obedience to my Sir and offering him service, bring a sense of wholeness to my life. From that, I’m finding new energy and strength, feeling empowered to act with more courage and intention.
In that balance of light and dark, surrendering power engenders more power, which can be offered in service to a world that desperately needs light. It is being able to stay on that path, the one that Carlos Castaneda calls “a path of the heart.”
“A path is only a path, and there is no affront, to oneself or to others, in dropping it if that is what your heart tells you . . . Look at every path closely and deliberately. Try it as many times as you think necessary. Then ask yourself alone, one question . . . Does this path have a heart? If it does, the path is good; if it doesn’t it is of no use.”
― Carlos Castaneda
Submission calls us to be fully ourselves. Giving control to my Sir moves me out of ego and into the realm of whole-hearted being, fully aware and engaged, open and willing… The feeling becomes concrete in the acts of submission I practice… spiritual and sensual, my Sir and I play together in a dance that stirs my spirit and touches my soul – that empties me and fills me again…
Kneeling at his feet, i wait for his permission to please him with my mouth, longing to taste him, to hear him moan in pleasure… mmmmm. Thank you, Sir.

I feel that active submission gives my inner voice volume. My entire life prior to Ds had been about serving others and anticipating their needs regardless of who they were in my life. This actually made it difficult a million years ago when we started Dd/Ds . B eventually moved into submissive exercises as some of the things we once read about, I had been always doing so they didn’t seem submissive to me- THEN my heart seemed to have purpose ! And like you talked about, I think ( lol it’s been a week here) the mundane , or things I always did prior became more than acts of service .When your submissive heart is engaged, there is a freedom and with that a confidence in accepting yourself. Funny, of everything I’ve ever read, “you have to love yourself first blah, blah, blah” I was never able to make that happen before B actively embraced my submission. Once that happened things snowballed. My perception of self changed and I walked more upright, figuratively speaking, because I do so with authenticity of self.
As for Solstice, I cannot wait!!! This darkness always threatens to over take me. I embrace the seasons of change as best I can but this one is by far the easiest to take! Lol

Yes, yes, yes!!! Again, you really capture the heart of it. My former wise therapist would have pointed out that we become able to embrace our shadow side – a part of ourselves we tend to reject – and that our shadow side holds not only our darker parts but also our greatest strengths. It’s amazing, and I love hearing you say it because it validates what I feel so well.
I’m glad we’re about to add more light to our world too!! 💜

Enjoyed the first song Olivia, unfortunately the second one wouldn’t work. Love what you said about reconnecting with your submission being a rebirth and bringing wholeness. It’s wonderful seeing you so happy. It’s a heady time isn’t it.
