Who Knew?

Who knew that there were so many people in the US that were ok with women dying for lack of reproductive healthcare?

Who knew that there were so many people who didn’t care about immigrants or trans people or gay and lesbians folks?

I didn’t know. Not really. Now I do.

With the illusion gone, I can see more clearly what is.

This is who we are.

So I’m in mourning today. I don’t know what I’ll do tomorrow.

“I am a frayed and nibbled survivor in a fallen world, and I am getting along. I am aging and eaten and have done my share of eating too. I am not washed and beautiful, in control of a shining world in which everything fits, but instead am wondering awed about on a splintered wreck I’ve come to care for, whose gnawed trees breathe a delicate air, whose bloodied and scarred creatures are my dearest companions, and whose beauty bats and shines not in its imperfections but overwhelmingly in spite of them…”

  1. Shit! I didn’t look because I was afraid. I’m so sorry. I cannot comprehend how ( even politics aside- yes I like to over simplify) how anyone could want such a hateful individual to be the public voice of their country.

I’m sorry, my heart breaks and my mind is dumbfounded. I’m not entirely sure which feeling is stronger.

  2. It’s not like I didn’t think it possible.
It’s not like I thought people were past this. But I hoped, I really did, I just hoped that people would be spared this and hoped that sense would prevail. But it seems that this isn’t a time of reason and we still have many more days before we get to the place beyond this. For everyone over the pond, my thoughts are with you and hope you get through the next four years safely.

  3. Honestly don’t know what to say.

All my words too vulnerable right now… and all my voices too scared. Wish I could write something, here more than anywhere, to light sone kind of response to the way you have encouraged those words in such a harsh world.

A beacon for a place too long hoped for.

  4. Some people only really care about cheaper bacon, even if they need to sacrifice rule of law and the Constitution to get it. We are animals at our core. This election illustrated that quite clearly.

The part that will get to me down the road is if and when I end up hearing any of these people claiming to be patriots. I’m OK with them voting their best interest……..as long as they realize there was nothing at all noble about it and not put themselves in the same category as someone who died or suffered for principle.

    • Yeah, they already think they’re victims and are convinced they’re patriots, so there’sthat. I don’t think they care about cheaper bacon, I think they’re afraid of anything that threatens white male supremacy. And they do that in the name of Christianity, so wtf.

Thank you for being here. 💜

    • Yep. It’s true, and it feels overwhelming bad. Sending you virtual hugs – it’s not over. The struggle has just begun – I don’t think we were seeing clearly, and now we can. Yeah, it’s an ugly picture, but now we know… 💜

    • Yeah, I’m a bit dismayed by how many of us voted for Trump. But now we know. (That’s my mantra for the day). Now that we know, we can begin to plan the resistance. Thanks for being here. 💜
