Welcoming 2024

I looked for a quote that would express all my feelings today, right at the beginning of the new year. But none of the quotes spoke from my heart (not really a surprise, I guess.) So I had to write it myself.

I want to flow into the New Year,
feeling fresh beginnings around me,
new inspiration, new strength and courage.
I want to feel myself held,
hand fisted in my hair right at the nape of my neck.
Held firmly, shaken lightly, and released
with a slap on the bottom,
sent back to my work.
I want to move through the world with grace,
stepping gently,
bringing warmth and light on my path.
I want to hold the pain of others in the open palms of my hands.
Bearing witness, but releasing it,
lightening the burden of suffering.
I want to dance freely,
moving to the rhythm of my soul,
stepping into my own body as if
it were a temple,
dedicated to love.
Offering my passion, purpose, and pain
to fill the empty, aching world
with my deep devotion
I want you, my friends,
to find the joy you seek,
to experience connection with others,
with yourself,
and with nature.
I hope for you to become more
of whom you are called to be,
to follow your own path faithfully.
Designing a life that supports and nurtures you always,
that carries you safely through the worst of times.

I have so much gratitude for my Sir, whose guidance has allowed me to find openness in new ways… Wishing you all a new year filled with with light and joy!!

  1. So beautifully written, Olivia. Isn’t it good to step into the new year with good intentions and ambitions? I’ve already been planning out home improvements and ways to help my aging mother. I’m pretty sure I’d do it all in a day, if I could 😉 Happy New Year, my friend!

    • Thanks, Helen. Yes, it does feel good! Even though the whole “new year” thing is a social construct… still, it’s a nice time to clarify where I am and want I want. Sounds like you’ve got some serious projects ahead of you! Happy New Year, Helen, my friend.
