I did my final round of marathon dentist visits yesterday. Not my last visit to the dentist, of course, but I think this was my last of the super long dental events.
How long was it? (There’s a joke in here sonewhere, but I’m not feeling it.) Seven and a half hours. That’s how long I was there. Part of that time, the dentist was making my new crowns, so it was probably only 4 hours of actual, non-stop, doing things to my poor mouth.
But I now have an entire row of new bottom teeth. Y’all. I got 9 crowns. It feels a bit odd at the moment, but I think it looks pretty good, and it will solve some other dental issues, so that’s all good. The all day dentist marathon was a bit of a nightmare.
When I laid down to sleep last night? You know how, if you ride on a boat or in a car all day, when you lie down to sleep, it may feel like you’re still moving? Well, honest to god, when I lay down last night, it seemed like people were still sticking tools in my mouth and doing things. Not a pleasant way to fall asleep.
And, of course, I’ll be paying for it for a while. (Literally, not some symbolic “I’ll pay for it later” thing.)
But it’s done. And doesn’t have to be re-done. And there’s a lot to be said for that.

Congratulations

Dentists should hire beauticians to perform pedicures while they work on your teeth. Okay, I’ll stop.

Lol, you are too funny. And no thanks, I try to dissociate in the dentist’s chair… 💜

Maybe not a pleasure Olivia, but a good thing…a VERY good thing, and must be such a relief! Congratulations on surviving all the treatment! That was some marathon!

First, it sounds traumatizing! But I have a phobia of the dentist. I just went recently after 11 years and was grateful to only have a very small cavity. Two, congrats on having that all taken care of now! Hopefully you are happy with how the crowns look and feel. XOXO

Well, yeah, I kind of purposely dissociate at the dentist. Definitely traumatic. And it is primarily my history of dentist trauma that has led to me delaying treatment for problems as long as possible – so I’ve fluctuated between getting tons of work done, then none. Sigh. I’m SO glad you only had one small cavity!!

Great! You’re a champ. When I go for my half yearly cleaning and polishing that half hour in the chair is enough to drive me insane. I can’t *imagine* doing a marathon like yours. But at least its OVER! and you’ll be good for a long time to come!

Ohhhhh, thanks for the trophy! It’s beautiful!!
Lol, the dentist said I was “really a trouper.” But no trophy.
And yes. OVER is fabulous.
