Winter Solstice, as you probably know, marks the turning of the seasons, the longest night that leads us to the beginning of shorter nights and more light. It’s my favorite of the Pagan celebrations because I love the returning light. Although, as I’ve been reminded lately, the light is always there, whether we can see it or not.
But knowing that the days will be longer – or have more light we can see – makes me feel hopeful, with a dash of joy.
And as much as I love it, some years the day has slipped by me without celebration. But this year, I remembered and I’m doing some things to mark the occasion (in addition to blogging about it!)
I’ve linked to an article entitled 10 simple and beautiful ways to celebrate Winter Solstice. Inspired by that, I’m going to:
- Light candles – I’ll light some candles and let the light shine through me.
- Clear my space – I’m doing some work on my space anyhow and this is a good opportunity to make more progress. I’ll smudge with some sage too, to clear the space energetically. I wish I had sweetgrass to invite some positive energy in – I can always use more peace, love, and good fortune. Maybe I’ll get some sweetgrass, or white cedar, soon.
- Reflect on the past year – I want this to be a process, leading up to New Year’s and the time to set new intentions for the year. But I can start today.
- Practice gratitude – I feel a lot of gratitude for my life, and sometimes I savor that feeling. But I don’t often stop to write it down. Today, I’ll write my appreciation.
- Follow self-care rituals – All of the things on this list are part of self-care rituals. And I’ve already done my affirmation and a brief meditation today – so there’s something to be grateful for already!
- Connect with nature – When I go for a walk today, I’ll be sure to let the beauty around me fill me.
But first I have to shower and get ready for the day. And would the day be complete without a touch of fantasy?
She was ready to shower. The water already turned on and warmed up, she was seconds away from stepping into the shower when she felt him behind her. She paused.
“Where are you going?” His voice held humor and a note of challenge.
She knew she was not showering yet. But she smiled. “Just getting in the shower, Sir, did you need something?”
He chuckled. “I don’t’need anything. But I think you do.”
‘Oh!” Her breath caught and a shiver ran through her. “What do I need?”
He moved one step closer, almost touching her from behind, and wrapped his arms around her. His hands captured and caressed her breasts, stroking nipples, pinching, gently at first, then harder. She sighed with pleasure, eye closed, bit her lip. His hands moved down, caressing her inter thighs, then exploring the folds between her thighs. She moaned.
“I think you’re right, Sir, I do need something”
“That’s right,” he replied. “What do you think you need?”
Surprised, she turned her head, trying to see his face. “This, of course,” she said. “I need your touch, I need to touch you, to stroke you…”. Her voice trailed off. He had moved his hands so they were on her waist. He turned her to face him.
“Nice thought,” he said, “Yes, you do need those things. But you need something else more. Come.” He reached around her to turn off the shower, then led her to the bedroom. She saw he had opened the case with his toys. Her nipples hardened and she felt a throbbing heat between her thighs.
“It’s Solstice,” he said, smiling. “A good spanking is self-care for me and good for you too.”
She laughed, “Spanking me is self-care for you?”
“Of course,” he said. She noticed that he had lit some candles and there was incense burning. “Since it’s Solstice, I thought we could create a little more ritual than we usually have. Candles, incense, and I’m going to let you pick three tools that I’ll use to spank you today.”
“Oh, but you know I hate picking what you use,” She was almost whining.
“Yes,” he said. “I know you hate it. Look at me.” She turned away from the case with all the toys and faced him. “Look at my eyes. Look directly into my eyes.”
Feeling the deep desire to obey him driving her, pushing against her reluctance, she raised her eyes.
“I know you hate to pick what I’m going to spank you with,” he said gently. “And I know that you love to please me.” He paused and she felt the tugging arousal at her core and her eagerness to please him filling her.
“Yes, Sir.”
“So you have a choice,” he said. Tell me no and I’ll pick what I use today. Or tell me you want to pick how you get spanked because it pleases me.” Her eyes dropped, but “No. Look at me and tell me.”
She looked up and saw clearly that he wasn’t angry or upset. He was offering a choice. Shaking her head, she smiled. “I’m sorry, Sir. Yes, of course I want to pick what you’re going to use to spank me with. Because it pleases you.”
“There’s my good girl.” He smiled at her and she couldn’t resist smiling back. “Pick wisely,” he went on. “Bring each one to me and present it. There you go. We’ll do a few extra punishment strokes so you don’t have to feel guilty about complaining.”
She laughed. “Thank you, Sir.” With a tiny sigh, she selected the small paddle and knelt in front of him, balancing the paddle on her palms, offering it to him.
Happy Winter Solstice!
If you can’t see the image below, it says:
May you find peace in
the promise of the solstice night,
That each day forward is
Blessed with more light.
The the cycle of nature,
unbroken and true,
Brings faith to your soul
and wellbeing to you.
Rejoice in the darkness,
in the silence find rest,
And may the days that follow
be abundantly blessed.
