Winter Solstice 2024

On this darkest day of the year, it’s good to celebrate the turning of the year and the coming of the light. I post something for the occasion most years. An image, a blessing, some information… This year, when I started looking for something new to share, I found this.

It’s a video, so if you can’t access it from my blog, you can find it on YouTube. Titled A Lakota Prayer for Winter Solstice, it’s by Doug Good Feather. I thought it was lovely, but I really enjoy that kind of chant. I imagine that not every one does.

In any case, I wish you all the Yule Blessings.

“After the longest night, tomorrow we sing up the dawn. There is a rejoicing that, even in the darkest time, the sun is not vanquished. As of tomorrow, the days begin to get longer as the light of day grows. While the gentle winter sun slowly opens its eyes, let us all bring more light and compassion into the world.

In other news, I’m feel a bit of stirring in my kinky self, and that’s a relief. I’ve been struggling with all kinds of anxiety, not sleeping worth a damn, and generally feeling a bit more miserable then necessary.

I haven’t moved forward with my book because I’ve been busy telling myself all kinds of things to sabotage that process. That’s my actual super power – stopping myself from doing things that carry a risk of failure and the potential for success.

No, I am mostly kidding about that. Kind of kidding. Pretty sure that I’m not so good at it that we could call it a super power. But I have a bit of a gift for it.

πŸ’œ. πŸ₯° I appreciate you all a lot.

  1. Thank you for sharing the Lakota Prayer… I enjoyed that very much, my dear friend. As to being the Queen of self-sabotage, I hope you’ll reflect on all the other things in your life that you HAVE done successfully and draw on that power. Glad to hear your libido is stirring…that’s always a delicious feeling. Hoping that you enjoy the holidays with good friends and family…wishing you much love in the new year ❀

    • Nora, I am so glad that you enjoyed the Lakota prayer. Thanks for the kind and supportive words. You’re right there are a lot of things that I have accomplished. And I’ll keep moving forward. It’s just a slow process. I hope that your husband is continuing to recover well, and that you are taking good care of yourself. Wishing you lots of joy at Christmas. πŸ’œπŸ’œ
